Costco price adjustment (price match) explained

Costco’s policy matches its own lower price, not competitors’. For members who aren’t resellers, Costco says purchases that drop in price within 30 days of the purchase date are eligible for a price match, up to any promotional item limit. With Black Friday and Holiday Savings events starting, the important detail is timing: for items with specific sale dates, you must submit during the active promotion and within 30 days of purchase — requests after the promo ends may be denied.

Who and what qualifies

• Non-reseller members; resellers must buy during promo dates to get promo pricing.
• A Costco price reduction within 30 days of your purchase.
• Promotional limits still apply (eligible up to the limit quantity).
• Precious metals are not eligible.

How to request on Costco.com

1. First check your order: Costco may have already deducted the promo. Open Orders & Returns, select the order and read the Order Summary.
2. If there’s still a difference, use the Request a Price Match form on Costco’s customer service article.
3. Once approved, credits are typically issued within 5 to 10 business days to the original payment method.

Warehouse purchases

Costco says to ask at the Returns counter of the warehouse where you bought the item. Bring the receipt (or have it in the app) and the current lower price. Exactly how each warehouse documents the difference is a check with store item.

Online vs warehouse prices aren’t interchangeable: Costco.com prices include shipping and handling, so Costco won’t match the warehouse price for a Costco.com purchase.

Special orders, tires and installs

Tires and wheels qualify if all other conditions are met — online purchases use the form; warehouse purchases go back to that warehouse. Special Order Kiosk and Home Improvement installed products follow the signed contract date and pre-tax price; Costco limits Shop Card promo exceptions to 14 days before and after the official promotion dates. Ask the authorized dealer.

Price match vs returning it

Costco’s return policy is still very generous for most items (see our Costco return policy guide; TVs, major appliances, computers and phones have a 90-day window). But returning and rebuying just to capture a sale wastes time and inventory — the 30-day price match is the cleaner path. Set a reminder on day 25 to check prices.
